    Description

This violin had been stored away in a local estate for many years.  I found it about 10 plus years ago in a dusty case.  It has not been played or looked at for many years. There was an envelope with a name and date on it placing it in Bar Harbor Maine in the 1950's. There is an old paper label inside as pictured.  I am not sure as to the origin of the violin or the age.  It does look very old and the tonewoods look to be of excellent quality. The scroll is very unusual in the way that it is carved, I have never seen another quite like it. The violin may have the original Baroque neck rather than a graft.  There was a back soundpost crack, but the crack looks to have been professionally restored-last picture shows interior and repair.  The endpin button, the saddle, a tailpiece, and pegs are included. Upper bout 6 1/2", lower bout 8 1/8", back 14", total length just over 23". Offered for restoration purposes, shipped within the US only.  Thank you.
